A Spectrum of Support
Exploring Child-Led & Relationship-Focused Alternatives to ABA Therapy
DIR/Floortime
A relationship-based therapy where caregivers get on the floor to play. It focuses on following the child's natural interests to build emotional connection and developmental skills.
Relationship Development Intervention (RDI)
A family-centered approach that focuses on building the capacity for dynamic, real-world social relationships. Parents are coached to guide their children in developing social and emotional skills.
Pivotal Response Training (PRT)
A play-based therapy that targets "pivotal" areas of a child’s development, such as motivation and initiating communication. The goal is to create widespread positive effects on other skills.
The Son-Rise Program
A parent-led, home-based approach where facilitators "join" a child's repetitive behaviors to build trust, using the child's own motivation as the bridge to learning and interaction.
Play Therapy
Uses play as a natural form of communication. Therapists create a safe space for children to express feelings, develop social skills, and work through challenges in a way that feels natural to them.
Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
An early intervention for toddlers blending developmental and behavioral approaches. It uses play and joint activities to foster social, communication, and cognitive skills.
